Using the draft yourself
How to download the draft statement as Markdown and put it into your own system – and what you are then responsible for yourself.
How it works
- In the scan report, choose “View draft”.
- In the section on how the text gets onto your website, under “Put it in place yourself”, choose “Download as Markdown”.
- Put the text into your system. Most content management systems accept Markdown directly or can convert it to HTML.
The top of the draft page says which regime the statement is generated for. If that is wrong, check the details in the website’s settings: Which accessibility statement do I need?.
What you need to add
The draft is not a finished document. Above all, check the contact details and the responsible body – a draft from a free scan does not know your mandatory details: Filling in the statement’s mandatory details.
What you are then responsible for
When you publish through the service, it takes over part of the obligations. When you use the draft yourself, they are yours:
| Task | Published through the service | Used yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Reporting channel for barriers | form below the statement, forwarded to your contact | you set it up |
| Date of the last review | from the scan | you maintain it |
| Earlier versions as a record | archived automatically, with PDF | you archive them |
| Updating after new scans | “outdated” marking, new version with one click | you copy the text again |
The statement text itself is in German, whatever the interface language: Which accessibility statement do I need?.
For US procurement
For websites procured under US law, the draft page also offers the Accessibility Conformance Report in VPAT format for download. It is in English because it is submitted in English, and it is a draft too: criteria the scan does not fully cover are listed as “Not Evaluated”.
