Filling in the statement’s mandatory details
Which details no scan can generate – contact for reports, accessible alternatives, the responsible body – and what to keep in mind for each.
You enter the mandatory details on the publishing page: in the website’s “Overview” tab under “Statement” → “Prepare publication”, section “Mandatory information”. Save with “Save details”.
Declared for
The top shows who declares and whether it is a public body or the private sector. You don’t change this here but in the website’s “Settings”. If the website takes over your organization’s name, the page says so. For client projects, the client’s name belongs there: Managing websites for clients.
Contact for reporting barriers
Required. An email address, a form or a phone number for people who come across a barrier.
If there is an email address, the service forwards reports from the form below the published statement to the first email address in the field. Without an email address, reports stay in your account under “Reported barriers” and are not forwarded. What it looks like for people reporting: Reporting a barrier.
Accessible alternatives
How can people reach content that is not yet accessible? For example a phone number, a document on request or a simpler version of the page. Concrete ways help more than a general note that people can get in touch.
Description of the service
Only for information under § 14 BFSG. What is offered, and what do people need to know to use it? Annex 3 of the BFSG requires both: a general description and explanations of how to use it.
Explanations in sign language and Easy Language
Only for public bodies in Germany. Enter the address of the page with the explanations under § 4 BITV 2.0. The explanations themselves belong on your website’s home page – the statement only links to them.
Responsible enforcement body
For public bodies, the enforcement or conciliation body; for information under § 14 BFSG, the market surveillance authority. It is pre-filled from the jurisdiction: “Name of the body”, “Postal address” and “Website”.
Please check: state authorities and municipalities fall under the body of their state, not the federal one. Enter it yourself in that case.
The voluntary statement names no responsible body – there is none for it.
What the service adds itself
The conformance status, the list of known defects, the testing method, the date of the last review and – for public bodies – the reply deadline and conciliation procedure are generated from the scan and the jurisdiction. The statement is still your declaration: read the draft before approving it.
