# Reporting a barrier

Came across a barrier on a website? How to use the form below the accessibility statement – and what happens to your report.

An accessibility statement has to name a way to report barriers. For statements published through this service, there is a form directly below the text.

## How to report a barrier

The form is part of the statement page, so it is in the statement’s language – currently German. It has three fields:

1. **What you came across** (“Was ist Ihnen begegnet?”) – required. Describe in a few words what did not work: what you wanted to do, how you use the page (for example screen reader, keyboard, magnification) and what happened.
2. **Which page** (“Auf welcher Seite?”) – optional. The page address helps to find the spot.
3. **How to reach you** (“Wie können wir Sie erreichen?”) – optional. Without it, nobody can reply; the report is still received.

Then send it with “Meldung senden”. The page confirms that the report has been forwarded and recorded.

The form needs no JavaScript and no captcha – a captcha would be an obstacle for exactly the people this channel is for.

## What happens to your report

- The report goes to the body responsible for the website – the organization named in the statement, not the provider of this service.
- It is stored there so it cannot get lost, and forwarded by email to the contact on file.
- Answering and fixing is up to the responsible body.

The statement itself also names a contact you can reach directly – by email, phone or another way.

## If no answer comes

- **Public bodies** have to answer within one month. If there is no answer or it is unsatisfactory, the statement names the enforcement or conciliation procedure you can turn to. The procedure is free of charge for you.
- **Businesses** publishing information under § 14 BFSG name the responsible market surveillance authority.
